What Are the Symptoms of a Bad Camshaft Gears ?

The camshaft adjusters change the opening time of inlet and exhaust valves according to engine operation needs. It will optimize the valve overlap angle according to the engine speed to make more fresh air enter the combustion chamber, which can maximize the power. When a fault occurs, what symptoms will appear?

• Camshaft Adjusters Failure

The failure of the cam adjuster causes the ECU to not correctly monitor the change of the camshaft timing gear position, which affects the inlet and exhaust capacity of the inlet and exhaust system, resulting in the vehicle not catching fire and shaking.

• Starting Process

During the starting process, the crankshaft will reverse and the intake manifold will backfire.

• Insufficient Power

The vehicle is weak when accelerating and can't run. The fuel consumption will become higher, the exhaust emission exceeds the standard, and the exhaust pipe emits unpleasant black smoke.

The Camshaft Adjusters from MAPMS have the following Functions

• Change the opening time of inlet and exhaust valves according to engine operation needs. When the engine is under high load, the camshaft adjusters are used to optimize the valve overlap angle according to the engine speed.

• Supply fresh air in the combustion chamber as much as possible, so as to realize high power and overlap angle torque.

• The camshaft timing gear will be adjusted at a low load so that exhaust gas recirculation can be generated inside the engine at the valve overlap angle.
